What the job involves
As safety observer you stand between operating plant and live electrical services. You know the exclusion zones, you watch every movement near them, and you stop the work before a breach happens.
Observe excavation, lifting and elevated work carried out near overhead powerlines and underground electrical assets
Maintain exclusion zones and approach distances for excavators, cranes, tippers, concrete pumps and elevated work platforms
Call stop-work the moment plant, a load or a person is likely to enter an exclusion zone
Confirm service locations from BYDA plans and drawings and brief operators before work starts
Record and report hazards, incidents and near misses to the supervisor
Requirements
Spotter / safety observer training for work near overhead and underground electrical services
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Experience as a spotter or safety observer on civil, infrastructure or utility sites
Can read site plans and BYDA plans and pick out services and exclusion zones
Fit for demanding outdoor work, long periods standing, all weather
Reliable transport and current driver licence
Right to work in Australia
Available for casual work in Brisbane and prepared to travel to regional projects
