Experienced electrical spotters are wanted for casual placements with contractors delivering civil, infrastructure and utility work on the Gold Coast and across Queensland.

The role

You are the safety observer on site: the person watching plant operating near energised overhead lines and underground electrical assets, holding the exclusion zone, and stopping work the moment anything approaches it.

Act as safety observer for excavators, cranes, tip trucks, concrete pumps and EWPs working near electrical services
Hold the approach distances set out in the site's electrical safety plan and Schedule 2 of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2026
Direct operators and use stop-work authority where a breach of an exclusion zone is likely
Check BYDA plans and site drawings before each task and brief operators at pre-start
Escalate hazards and near misses to the site supervisor

What you need

Electrical safety observer (spotter) training for work near overhead and underground services
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Prior experience as a spotter or safety observer on civil, infrastructure or utilities projects
Ability to read site plans and BYDA plans and interpret exclusion zones
Physically fit for outdoor work on your feet in all conditions
Own transport and a current driver licence
Right to work in Australia
Availability for casual work on the Gold Coast and willingness to travel across Queensland
